Modern smartphones
Advanced Data Collection Options
Coppernic integrates cutting-edge technologies (multi-standard RFID, FAP30/FAP50 biometrics, iris scanner, MRZ reading) directly into the core of commercial professional smartphones.
The result is a fully integrated, rugged, and ergonomic field terminal for critical identification and access control applications.
The Chassis Approach
Modern commercial smartphones are widely adopted in enterprises, which already master their deployment and security.
The rugged chassis approach allows you to keep these familiar devices and your usual tools even in specialized field environments
This unique architecture integrates advanced data collection technologies (RFID, NFC, FAP30/FAP50 biometrics, MRZ) directly onto your devices.
It permanently eliminates external modules to provide a fully integrated, rugged, and ergonomic terminal.
Trusted devices
Keep your usual operating systems, enterprise tools, and security protocols.
Native connection
Eliminate failures and disconnections related to Bluetooth or wired peripherals.
Rugged Ergonomics
Benefit from a fully integrated terminal, designed to withstand critical field environments.
Our Two Rugged Chassis Architectures
The traditional portrait-format chassis offers an extended space for integrating peripherals such as FAP30 fingerprint sensors, RFID / smartcard reader options (HF / LF), contact card readers, and much more.
The “heart” of the device is a commercially available smartphone. The chassis integrates data collection technologies into a rugged enclosure. Protective cases and accessories are also available.
Please do not hesitate to contact our dedicated team if you have any specific, tailored requirements or unique specifications regarding your smartphone deployment or hardware needs.
An extended-area chassis offers more physical space for integrating larger peripherals such as FAP50 fingerprint sensors, iris cameras, MRZ readers, and much more.

Quick answers to common questions
What type of data collection options can be supported by Coppernic mobile devices using the ER and EX chassis?
A wide variety of technology options are available, including advanced RFID technologies (LF/HF/NFC) that support virtually any contactless card standard (MIFARE, LEGIC, iClass, HID Prox, AWID, and more). For Biometric Identification applications, there are a variety of Fingerprint Sensors (FAP30 or FAP50) and Iris scanners. For document capture, there are options for passport swipe (MRZ) or contact card readers.
If there is a data capture technology that is not supported by our devices, contact Coppernic for product development options.
Can the ER and EX Chassis support any type of Smartphone?
What types of field applications are the Coppernic Mobile Devices intended for?
Coppernic rugged handheld products are used for Data Capture in Identity, Control, Tracking and Field Operations environments. Mobile devices with the ER Chassis can be used to extend Physical Access Control Systems (PACS) to enable remote security checks, mustering or emergency management, and transportation/shuttle bus access. By adding the fingerprint option, the ER devices can be used for high security access control for sensitive locations and critical infrastructure as well as Identity verification in Border Control, Military, or law enforcement applications. The wide variety of RFID readers enable mobile devices for applications from ticket inspection, asset tracking and management.
The EX Chassis includes the FAP50 fingerprint module making it ideal for Identity enrollment applications. Together with the Iris camera, face recognition and document capture functionality, it is designed for Border Control, Military, and secure access control use cases.
