The missions of the public transportation ticket inspectors are evolving dramatically and become more and more commercial. In addition to the basic inspection, they have to inform and advise the passengers but also to sell tickets and issue fines to the offenders.

To meet these new requirements, Coppernic has designed its high-end e-ticketing solution around the Ikôn platform that is the best, the most elegant rugged PDA while offering the longest battery life of the market.

Ergonomics and Robustness

ORION has been designed to make the working conditions of the users easier and to improve the performance and the accuracy of their missions in any kind of environment. Thus, it is also necessary that the product resist to all kinds of attacks such as rain, falls, dust and dirt. That's why this device is IP65 (water and dust resistant) and resistant to drops from 5 ft (1,50 meters) to concrete.

Performance and battery life:

Built around the Ikôn platform, the product integrates – individually or simultaneously and without any external antenna - the best technologies in terms of wireless communication (GSM/GPRS/EDGE, UMTS/HSDPA, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS) and  data capture:

  • An Honeywell Adaptus™ 2D imager with decoding card for very fast reading
  •  A RFID module that is compliant with any major current and future contactless standards. Connected to a specifically designed large antenna, it will guarantee an outstanding reading range and speed, even for secured transactions
  • A magnetic stripe reader compliant with ISO 1, 2 and 3 and Edmondson.

Battery capacity and life are essential to support these exceptional performances. Thanks to the 5000 mAh high capacity battery of the Ikôn and the smart «power management» routines developed by Coppernic, we can guarantee by contract that the most demanding e-ticketing applications will work properly during more than 10 hours without changing the battery.
